Instructor

The IAHD Instructor course has been developed to give the Trainee Instructor the knowledge and experience that is needed to teach all IAHD Primary and IAHD Partner courses in a safe and enjoyable manner and to be able to certify successful participants in those courses. In addition, a certified IAHD Instructor can teach all IAHD speciality courses for which he or she is a certified IAHD Instructor.
Because an IAHD Instructor is directly responsible for his or her trainees and assistants, the certification requirements for an IAHD Instructor have been set at a high level.

Impression of the study program

The IAHD Instructor course is comprised of the following modules:

D-Learning skills module:
In order to teach well, you need to know how a teaching system is structured. This information is given in the D-Learning section of this complete program. You need to learn this knowledge in advance because you will use it during the ITC.

Instructor Training Course (ITC):
In this part you will apply what you have learned above under the guidance of an IAHD Instructor Trainer. This does not only mean that your didactic skills will be taken to a higher level, but also your evaluation skills will be sharpened. You will give several theory and practical training lessons that you, together with the IAHD 'Instructor Trainer', will evaluate and improve. Finally, 'Laws and Regulations' and administrative matters will also be discussed.
In this part you will also repeat the theoretical knowledge that you need to become a successful IAHD instructor. You should actually already have this knowledge because this knowledge has been covered in all your previous training courses (including the basic training and the Instructor Assistant training). Because it may have been a while ago, or because knowledge may have changed, the knowledge is repeated here. This knowledge is also evaluated during the Instructor final exam (IFE).

Instructor Exam (IE):
In order to ensure that the IAHD Instructor meets and will maintain the required level, at the end of the course Trainee Instructor is required to pass an exam. The exam serves to evaluate if the IAHD Trainee Instructor will be successful in training IAHD divers safely and professionally.
